World Diabetes Day is an annual global observance on 14th November to raise awareness about diabetes and encourage action for its prevention, detection, and management. Established in 1991 by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization, it takes place on the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting, a co-discoverer of insulin. The day promotes understanding of the condition, which is a chronic disease where the body has trouble using or producing insulin.

Diabetes Health Checks (Annual Review) – If you live with diabetes, you’ll need to have certain health checks to help prevent diabetes complications.
Diabetes can cause other complications that can become serious if not picked up and monitored or treated in the early stages.
So regular diabetes health checks – sometimes called your yearly or annual review – are part of your routine NHS treatment.
We will contact you to ask you to get your blood test and urine test done, after which you will be booked in for your diabetes review with nurse Bethany. Please make sure you attend for your diabetes reviews.
